This is us

Walkabout Cultural Adventures is a locally owned & operated Aboriginal cultural tour business based in Port Douglas Daintree – Australia.

Walkabout Cultural Adventures owner, Juan Walker has been guiding in the Port Douglas Daintree region for over 20 years. He prides himself on providing top quality service, authentic cultural information and personalised interpretive guiding.

Our tours are educational and allow guests to participate and learn about cultural practises and activities in an interpretive and soft adventure experience.

By partaking in a First Nations owned tour experience allows us, the people, to preserve, share and connect visitors to the land and sea, promoting sustainability through ecotourism principals which also allows us to foster cultural awareness with an emphasis on caring and respect for country.

Aboriginal tourism is true ecotourism, by sharing knowledge passed down for tens of thousands of years, allows people to gain an understanding of how to live in harmony with nature. This knowledge once understood, can be applied in everyday life, which for many, is transformational.

Juan’s ambition is to further develop the business and create employment opportunities for local Aboriginals who are proud to share their land and culture. He has a passion to teach the local youth about First Nations history and culture to enable the next generation to embrace Aboriginal heritage and culture and implement more practises into the wider community to create a more harmonious community.

ABOUT THE DESIGN

walkabout cultural adventures logo

Our logo was designed to represent our experiences, the human connection to country – the balance between man and nature through sustainability and respect.

Featuring:

  • The moon: significant to the land, the animals and the people impacting life daily and seasonally.
  • The mangrove: an integral element of our environment, vital to our eco-system including the rainforest and reef, representing vegetation in general.
  • The roots: deep connection to country, our country, as the world’s oldest living race.
  • The feet: represent people walking on country because that’s what we do!

Walk with us and we share our connection to jalun, bana and bubu (sea, water and land).
